The 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines banned smoking by spectators because nearby San Diego had banned smoking in its parks, beaches and public golf courses a few months earlier in March. In 2017 the city of Spokane in Washington tried to ban smoking on its four public golf courses, only to face an outcry from players and smoking rights advocates. “Golf and cigars go together like a hand in a glove,” complained Dale Taylor, President of the Cigar Smokers Association of Washington, a smokers' rights groups. For many years golfing and cigars go hand in hand. Getting out on the course is a great way to unwind, and a stogie (or two) only makes the experience better say many people as these rare images show.
